All Twitter employees will have to work from home to help slow down the deployment of COVID-19, the company said today. Twitter has already “strongly encouraged” employees to do so in an announcement early last week, but the directive is being done worldwide.
Twitter will continue to pay contractors, hourly workers and vendors for standard business hours. The company will also pay for home office setup expenses, as well as for parents who would have to pay to add childcare expenses.
Technical firms from Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, and Google have provided similar policies to employees in various regions, but Twitter’s powerful 4,900 employees are one of the strongest.
